Which versions do you use? I was just trying to replicate the error, using the latest ImageJ1 (1) with the latest OMERO plugin (2) on Windows 8, couldn't see the error message.
But I agree, the import dialog looks a bit strange, but it works. You have to click on "Add to Queue". This will add the currently open Image in ImageJ to the import queue, which you then can import to OMERO.

Kind Regards,
Dominik

I'm using OMERO.insight-ij-5.2.4-ice35-b23 with fiji-win32 and i tried with fiji-win64 same error.
As i understand fiji-win32 uses ImageJ 2.0.0-rc-49/1.51d/Java 1.8.0_66 (32bit)

UPDATE ... i removed FIJI version and installed only ImageJ 1.50i/ Java 1.8.0_77 (64bit) and no errors. Everything works fine for now. Thanks
