Questions about tiled images

I hope this is the right place to a few questions about the ome-xml/ome-tiff image format for tiled images. If not, I ask that someone point me in the right direction.

1. Are their any example tiled image files anywhere in the online git repository?

2. What programs besides omero can open a tiled image? (I'm assuming that omero can open them?)

3. Is anyone else out there writing tiled images for 16 bit image data?

4. I am assuming that I would write out each of the individual tiles as possibly separate files. Is their a mechanism for also writing out linearly interpolated "stitches" for the area where the tiles overlap?

Thanks in advance,

Larry

I think the only examples are the XML part-files on http://www.ome-xml.org/wiki/TiledImages
Do you need something more than this, or is this enough for now?

OMERO can import ome files with this tiled metadata and should save the stage position info, but does not support the tiling of images beyond that. In the above example, the various stage positions are represented as separate images, so they would appear as separate images in OMERO, with no links as far as I can tell.

It should be pretty straight forward to write a script similar to "Combine Images" https://www.openmicroscopy.org/site/sup ... il-scripts to stitch these images together in OMERO using their stage positions or tile positions. Although dealing with any rotation or overlap would be a bit more tricky.

Probably the best way to support this type of data in OMERO at the moment is to use some other tool to assemble the tiles into a single image E.g. http://www.xuvtools.org/ or http://fiji.sc/wiki/index.php/Stitching_2D/3D and then import them into OMERO as a single 'Big' image, since OMERO now supports tiled viewing of big images.
