Importer: Archive option?

Postby frank » Fri Feb 28, 2014 1:40 pm

Hi

If I import new images one can activate the "archive" option. What does that mean? Is each image converted into a proprietary format and the original image is stored or not - if "archive" is activated or not?

Best Regards, Frank

Hi !

This option should only exist within OMERO 4.4 and previous versions.
As you can see here (step 5 of "Adding image data"):
A copy of the original data can be archived in its original format by checking the box in the right most column.

So when you import a file and check this box, it will be imported as usual (which means "converted" to raw pixels and metadata) but a copy of this file in its original format will be kept on the server within OMERO.

However, OMERO 5 was recently released, and it now directly stores the original files, so if you want to keep the original format of the file, you don't have data duplication any longer...
