Delete and 4.3

Hi,

I've set up OMERO 4.3 on our server, but I noticed that in a collaborative group (rwrw--), a user can delete another user's images, datasets and projects. Is it really the new expected behavior ? Is there a way to disable it while still sharing the tags... ?

You should only be able to delete other user's data if you are an 'owner' of the group.

This has been the same behavior as before 4.3. It means, for example, that the leader of a group can delete data from users after they have left the lab etc.

Can you check whether this is true (you are logged in as an 'owner' of the group)?

To disable this you'd need to become a regular group member.

I tried with regular group members. And they can delete someone else's content.
Projects and datasets are not really deleted, but they are emptied and the hierarchy is broken.

So since it is not the expected behavior, maybe I have done something wrong...

You'll have to give us the exact details of how you are creating and deleting stuff. At least when I last checked, I couldn't see this bug.

- Are you using the web client or Insight?
- Are you using the right-click menu, or tool bar buttons etc.

A screen-shot is often really helpful in seeing where the problem is occurring.

It happens in Insight when I press the "delete" key on the keyboard. Maybe I should not have.
I also noticed it happens in "read-only" groups.

But you're right, I cannot delete someone else's images using the toolbar, the right-click menu or the webclient...

As you can see below, I logged in as "C" and accessed my images, then pressed "delete": here is what I obtain.

Connected as "C" (regular user), I can delete my images...

However, I've noticed since that the images still exist but only appear in the "Images" tab in Insight, and in "Orphaned Images" in the Webclient. It appears only the project hierarchy is destroyed...
