OMERO and Andor .sif

I work in a lab with several Andor CCD cameras. I primarily use Andor SOLIS to acquire images and save in the .sif format. I know SOLIS can save in other formats such as .tif but I was hoping to continue to use .sif since all of the header information is preserved. I also currently have MATLAB and ImageJ, both tools I use for analysis, working 100% with .sif files.

My question is, can I use OMERO and continue to use .sif or do I have to switch to .tif? Is there anybody with experience using the same combination of tools as me? Andor cameras for acquisition, MATLAB and ImageJ for all analysis.

Hi,

Bio-Formats and hence OMERO have support for SIF files (SIFReader). If you use the OMERO 5.x release, you'll be able to import the .sif files directly into OMERO and access them in their native format from the server.

Should you have any trouble with reading any particular .sif file, we will be happy to take a look at it.

Kind regards,
Roger Leigh
