I would add here that I don't think the HTML5 multi-file upload can record the 'up' part of the path to the file.
This is a good example (and it's very encouraging that it works when you drop a whole directory in):

In this case, that is not really important, but often this path contains crucial information which I rely on totally in webtagging autotag.
Not sure what the answer is, perhaps the importer could be flash, or perhaps there could be various options.
