Hi

This maybe a really naive question as I'm more of a developer than an image person. But what do people use the intensity plots on the detailed view for? Also the separate channel view with views of the same image?

It certainly looks cool- but talking to our biologists they can't see a use for them in our research area so I wondered what we are missing?

Hi Jonathan,

The intensity plots can be used to get a better impression of intensity than is possible from viewing the image itself. For example, to clarify whether intensity in adjacent regions of the image is quantitatively different or merely appears that way to the eye.

The separate channel view of an image is a very common way of displaying images in figures. It's just another way of viewing the data which may highlight certain features, or allow you to clearly view more than 3 channels simultaneously (which is hard if they are all coloured and overlaid).
