Problem with aspect ratio for .vsi files

I am using the omero desktop software to view Olympus .vsi images. I can import images and view them. However, I have noticed that the small thumbnail view on the bottom right does not correctly show where I am in the larger image. In addition, if I add an annotation, and then zoom in or out, my annotation does not show in the correct place on the image. I have to go back to the resolution where I set the annotation to get it to display correctly again. Could this be a problem with the way I have omero set up? Or a glitch in the way vsi files are handled?
Thanks for any input.

Hi!
I tried to reproduce these issues with some of our sample vsi files, didn't notice any problems. Could you upload a sample file?
http://qa.openmicroscopy.org.uk/qa/upload/ What version of OMERO do you actually use?
Kind Regards,
Dominik

Hi Dominik,
Thanks for your quick response. We are using the Omero desktop software, version 5.0.8, which I think is the latest version. We would need permission from our project PI to upload images, and because of the file sizes (generally 3GB+) we probably couldn't upload anyway. I am attaching a screenshot of what Omero looks like with a vsi file open. It shows that the thumbnail viewer is not operating correctly.
We were also wondering if there is any way for us to download one or more of the .vsi files you use for testing, so we could see if we have the same problem with those.
Jen

Hi Jen,
I have to excuse, meanwhile I found some vsi sample files in our testing repository, which have exactly the same problem as you reported. These are known issues with respect to vsi files in OMERO 5.0.x, I just wasn't aware of them and by chance I only picked the working sample vsi files last time. However a lot of these problems will be fixed in the coming up 5.1.0 version, which will be released soon.
Cheers,
Dominik
