Insight Client connection failures OS X and Java 8 Update 51

We've noticed that OS X 10.9 clients upgrading Java to the latest (8u51) version can't connect to Omero using the Insight client. Java 8u45 seemed to work just fine. We are using Insight v5.1.2 Ice35 b45 against Omero server 5.1.2 ice34 b45.
Anyone else seeing this and if so, any workarounds?
