Meaning of Plane.TheC attribute

Postby Simon Carter » Tue May 15, 2012 3:47 pm

How does the Plane.TheC attribute relate to the Pixels.Channel element?

We have systems which have multiple detection channels and scan SBS plates. In any given scan of a plate not all of those channels may be enabled. Furthermore, of those channels which are enabled, we may not generate tiff images for all of the enabled channels.

An example:

The instrument has 4 channels.
A particular experiment has channels 1,2 and 4 enabled.
The system is configured to generate tiff images only for channel 2.
Each tiff file contains only a single image.

What should TheC be? I'd be grateful if someone could point me towards the appropriate documentation.

Sorry for the noise - I've just realised that the Plane element is only useful if I have image timing and position data, which I don't, so it's probably going to be simplest for me to omit the element altogether.
