omero.insight "failed to log onto omero"

Hello All,

I've just quasi-finished an installation of omero 5.0.2 on a vm for testing at my institution. I am running CentOS 6.5 and followed the instructions on the omero website to the best of my abilities -- they were fairly confusing for a first-timer. I am able to access the omero webclient, but I get the following error when attempting to use omero.insight:

Failed to log onto omero. Please check the port or try again later.

I am running in development mode with debug on. I can see the following lines come up when I start omero.insight; however, I don't see any debug information when I try to connect.

"GET /static/webstart/jars/ehcache-core-2.6.2.jar HTTP/1.1" 404 1714

I believe that I have correctly opened ports 80,443,4080,and 4064.

Apparently, the act of writing out my problem helped me realize the issue. I just noticed that in the diagnostic information the TCP port is 4063, which I had not opened yet. Once I opened 4063, omero.insight was able to connect properly.

The ports I currently have opened are: 80, 443, 4063, 4064, and 4080. Through trial and error, I've discovered that 4063 and 4080 are necessary, but does anyone know if the others are required?

Hi Blair,

information about ports to open can generally be found in the Sysadmin documentation. You should have all the required ports opened for using both clients: OMERO.insight and OMERO.web.
