Hi Josh,

I have added the host names as indicated and moved to var2 instead of deleting the var folder. I have tried to upload an image twice and sent you the Blitz log through QA.

Code: Select all
$ mkdir -p ~/var2/OMERO.data
$ omero config set omero.data.dir ~/var2/OMERO.data
$ omero admin start

Is this nothing important?

Code: Select all
2014-02-04 12:20:43,655 WARN  [    ome.formats.model.ReferenceProcessor] (3-thread-2) Unknown target class for LSID: Image:0

Ah, Ilinca. Thanks for the new log. I think I've found the problem:
Code: Select all
02-12 14:13:22,685 INFO  [       ome.formats.importer.ImportConfig] (l.Server-1) OMERO Version: 5.0.0-rc1
2014-02-12 14:13:22,685 INFO  [       ome.formats.importer.ImportConfig] (l.Server-1) Bioformats version: UNKNOWN revision: ${vcs.revision} date: 4 February 2014

The version number for Bio-Formats is not being properly set. Let us look into it, and we'll keep you posted.

Cheers,
~Josh

Sure, no problem. While we work on a fix, if you'd prefer to download the official OMERO.server zip, rather than using homebrew, it should work fine.

Cheers,
~Josh.

Hi Josh,

I see the Homebrew problem is taking a while to fix so I would like to use the zip. I guess this make sense anyway since we would eventually like to install OMERO on a proper server and homebrew won't be of much help there. Where can I find the configuration documentation?

Thanks,
ilinca

Hi ilinca,

as a follow-up, we are currently waiting for 5.0.0 to be released to update our OMERO 5 formula as well upstream bugs to be fixed by Homebrew. So moving forward with the traditional zip installation is certainly your best option as of today.

The latest OMERO.server can be downloaded from the downloads page. The reference documentation for installing the server and setting its configuration is available here for UNIX systems and here for Windows systems.

Best,
Sebastien

Hi Sebastien,

Thanks for the inof! I'm familiar with these links, but I want to install it on a Mac OS (10.5) and not with homebrew. I think the titles are confusing as to where I should look in my case.

OMERO.server Mac OS X installation walk-through with Homebrew - I don't want to brew it
OMERO Installation for Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) - I'm on OS X 10.5

Please don't take it as criticism but as an opportunity to improve the user friendliness of your documentation, if you are interested.

Best,
ilinca

Hi ilinca,

The main OMERO.server installation page should be the default page to read for all UNIX-based systems (Linux, OSX etc). It is as platform-independent as possible and contain all necessary information. All subsequent pages listed under the see also box are meant to be guidelines for specific platforms/versions.

Thanks for the documentation feedback. We are in the middle of 5.0.0 release. But I capture your comment as a ticket for 5.0.1 (https://trac.openmicroscopy.org.uk/ome/ticket/12009). Hopefully we will address this clarification for the next release.

Best,
Sebastien
