OMERO AND WEB BROWSERS

Postby nabila.elarouci » Tue Feb 26, 2019 12:57 pm

Dear all,
we are testing Omero in our institution, in order to draw the internal workflow for the future deployment.
however, when dealing with the omero web client, we can only use Chrome and Opera web browsers correctly!!
Within Firefox and IE, we can access the login page, enter the username/password, but the 1st webpage of Omero could not be launched and take a while... like a bug and the page still in load !

I wonder if someone had already dealt with such a problem? perhaps a java problem!
Thank you for your help

Dear Nabila,

I'm sorry to hear of your trouble with OMERO. We're not aware of any problems with using OMERO.web with popular browsers; I routinely use it with Firefox ESR myself. Which version of OMERO and which versions of the browsers are you using?

On the Java question, OMERO 5.4.10 with a recent Java 8 should work just fine.

What happens with the failed login? Does it work in the end, or give some error message or something?

Are there any errors in your server logs like Blitz-0.log or OMEROweb.log? If you were to zip up any logs and submit them to http://qa.openmicroscopy.org.uk/qa/upload/ then we would be happy to help you to make sense of them.

Also, from the server side if you can let us know what you get from commands like,
Code: Select all
bin/omero admin diagnostics
bin/omero web diagnostics
then maybe there will be some clue from those.

Cheers,
Mark

Dear Mark,

many thanks for your prompt reply!
I have asked the it department to send me all you have mentioned, but not before next week :(
to be clearer, with IE and Firefox, we don't have problem with login page. omero web accepts correctly our logins and try to upload the default user page. Unfortunetly, it seems turning on for illimited time... in other word, it bugs.

Dear Nabila,

Can you tell me a little more about the problem you see with some browsers? Is it just very slow or does it say error messages of some kind? What triggers the problem, or is it variable? Does it still happen if you disable browser plug-ins/add-ons?

Have you an account on our demo server https://demo.openmicroscopy.org/? I can make you one if you would like to see if you have the same problem with Firefox on our demo server here.

Cheers,
Mark

Dear Mark,
The problem with Firefox and IE browsers was fixed by It department!
in fact, it was a problem with Content-Security-Policy HTTP header (CSP) configuration in the Omero-web server,
thank you for your help, and Yes, I have an account in your demo-server.

PS: I have updated the previews post with a screen capture of the bug.

best wishes

Dear Nabila,

Great, thank you very much for letting us know. It is great that you have such a helpful IT team.

Also, thank you for mentioning the Content-Security-Policy problem. This is a new one for us. If any other users run into it then they may find this thread in search.

Cheers,
Mark
