Unique Identifiers on OMERO 4.3.3

Postby icaoberg » Thu Feb 23, 2012 4:38 pm

In former versions of OMERO identifiers were unique. I was testing OMERO 4.3.3 and I noticed that a Project, its child Dataset and the first image in that Dataset share the same identifier. Was this meant to be a change in the new version of OMERO?

Ivan,

do you mean like project:1, dataset:1 and image:1? These were never globally unique. For each type there can be exactly one id value, since there's a primary key per table in the DB.

Cheers,

Hi Ivan,

They should be unique within any OME-XML <ome> block or OME-XML/OME-TIFF file, if you want them to be globaly unique your could generate them as an LSID.

See: http://www.openmicroscopy.org/site/support/file-formats/working-with-ome-xml/id-and-lsid

Hope this helps,

Andrew
