import the same image severals times in a same group

Hi,
I work with OMERO the 4.3.4.
I can import twice the same image in the same dataset. (same pixel, same name)
I can also import images (same pixel, different name).

My question is : Is it a phylosphical reason to allow importing image severals times ?

Yes, the reason is to allow importing the same image several times. Furthermore, checking the attributes you just mentioned (as well as all the other potential attributes that you would have to check in order to assert that two images are identical) across the entire database is time consuming.

I agree, it'll be time consuming, but it's storage consuming now.
